It’s been a month of showering in our basement bathroom.  Although I’ve become very acquainted with that bathroom over the past 30 days, I’m ready to have our main bathroom back in the mix!

Last time we updated you on our bathroom progress, we were in the dreamy idea phase.  You know, the time when you have no idea how much work is coming your way and you think it’ll be done in, “eeeehhhhh two weeks!” (Anyone who gets that Money Pit reference is now my friend.)

So here’s our bathroom before we started.  Guys, I wasn’t lying about the whole Pepto Bismol pink that was going on in there.  Also, I’d like to point to your attention the fabulous mix of tile. Let’s just say it gave a whole new meaning to eclectic.

Alright, alright.  That’s enough gorgeous design for you for one day.  Let’s get to the fun part…DEMO TIME!  We took on the challenge of doing the demo ourselves to save some cash.  Thankfully, we did because it took many hours that we would have paid big bucks for!

After getting all of the tile and most of the drywall down, we decided to take a break and go to California. (If you didn’t check out our cali blog, it’s worth the couple of minutes.  The decor was unreal!)  After we were well rested and had some extra Vitamin D, we got back to work; facemasks and all.  My pops even came to help come and take out the cast iron tub.  What a guy!

All in all, we took out not one, not two, not three, not four, but FIVE different types of tile!  That has to be illegal amongst the decor kings and queens.

Now the bathroom is down to the studs! The next step is to have our contractor come to complete the plumbing, electrical, and all that fun stuff we aren’t touching with a ten-foot-pole.

Stay tuned for the next (a lot less messy) update!
