One of my life goals this year is to eliminate the purchase of products that I can easily make at home.  There are a couple of reasons for this but mainly to save money, to reduce the amount of plastic in my life, and to have the ability to use more natural products.

I decided conditioner was my next victim.  I went with a simple recipe and use a variety of oils. The recipe is super simple with:

  • equal parts of:
    • avacado oil
    • coconut oil
  • a few drops of essential oil of your choosing
  • a glass jar

Mix all of your ingredients together, put the contents into your jar and you are ready to go!  I now use this once a week by applying a modest amount on to my wet hair and letting it sit for a few minutes before rinsing out and shampooing. I don’t use too much since its all oil based, it can get greasy if you use too much. (Side note: my hair is very thin – if you have thicker, more coarse hair this may not be a problem for you.) Either way, if you use the condition before the shampoo, you should be good to go! I know it seems a little backwards, but trust me just this once. 🙂
