THANK YOU TO WAGNER TOOLS FOR SPONSORING THIS BLOG POST! THE OPINIONS I SHARED AND MATERIALS I USED ARE MY OWN.

Working with pallet wood is one of my favorite things to do! For this project, I decided to make a smaller version of the rustic family photo frame.

Thanks to Buffalo Restore I had a ton of pallet wood to get started with right away. I built my frame following the same process as my rustic family photo frame, only two boards smaller. And this time I wanted to try out a different staining option: fire!  I wouldn’t normally recommend playing with fire but there’s always an exception to every rule, right?

Using my Wagner studio dual temp heat gun on the high setting, I slowly burned the wood. I went around the surface of the frame holding the gun longer in some spots than others to achieve an uneven look. The difference in the coloring of the wood with the heat gun as opposed to stain is so unique and rustic.  I just love it! Plus, playing with fire is fun. (ALWAYS use the proper safety equipment, guidelines and recommendations when working with high temperatures.)

Interested in owning a Wagner heat gun of your own? I teamed up with Wagner to bring you a very special coupon code.  Visit wagnerspraytech.com and use “H2H30″ at checkout for 30% off the Studio Series Heat Guns and additional Wagner Studio Series products.

Until next time…remember to reclaim, reuse and upcycle.
