Do you have a home project you’ve been looking to tackle but aren’t quite sure where to start? Or maybe you wish you had the chance to learn from a professional and improve your skills to complete a project you previously tried to take on?

Well Buffalo, do I ever have the opportunity for you. Let’s bring your home improvement project ideas to life!

The UpSkill Project offers contestants the chance to win a $2,000 Lowe’s gift certificate to use toward their project, learn DIY skills from professionals right in their own home, and receive consultation from a designer to pull the whole vision together. Yes, you read that right! It’s a DIY dream come true.

I can speak from personal DIY experience that there is nothing more empowering than having the confidence in knowing how to use specific tools and the DIY knowledge to get my hands dirty to complete a project with ease. So, what do you say? Let’s say goodbye to the days of feeling intimidated by that looming home project and say hello to a home that’s more comfortable, welcoming, and more you!

Entering The UpSkill Project Contest for a chance to be the lucky winner is a breeze! Simply review the contest rules, make a short video entry (be sure to read the guidelines), and fill out the contest form! You’ll want to stand out from the competition with your entry, so you must be sure that your video clearly touches on the answers to three questions:

  1. What project would you love to have The UpSkill Project team help you tackle?
  2. What DIY skills would you hope to learn from The UpSkill Project team?
  3. How much would it mean to you to have the opportunity to learn new skills and gain confidence in your DIY abilities?

Now that you have the details, drop what you’re doing and go make your entry video! We want to see what projects the Buffalo area needs, and most of all we want to see you!

The contest entry period ends March 12. Up to five (5) eligible entries with the highest scores will be selected the third week of March. The project will take place this May and June.

Speaking of summer, mark your calendars for Saturday, June 16. The UpSkill team and all the lucky contest winners will be taking their talents to a Lowe’s store in the Buffalo market to teach customers a variety of DIY skills in painting, tiling, plumbing and general tools. Come armed with your questions and be ready to learn everything from how to install a backsplash, to how to replace a faucet! I’ll be there too – let’s have a fun DIY day together on June 16!

If you’re not local to the Buffalo area and want to enter The UpSkill Project Contest, don’t worry…there are still opportunities for you to participate! The UpSkill Project is coming to a number of cities across the country throughout the year. Check the website to see if The UpSkill Project will be heading your way!

Disclaimer: NO PURCH NECESSARY.  Homeowners and renters (with property owner’s permission) in eligible ZIPs only.  Rules/Entry details at http://bit.ly/2D1ToZm. Ends 3/12/18.
