After months of planning and renovating, I’m super happy to report that the nursery is done-zo…complete…FINISHED! If you remember back to the nurery inspo post, you’ll know that we’re not finding out the gender of our baby so that meant gender-neutral all the way. But if I’m being honest, I think even if we knew the gender, this is exactly how I would have designed it anyway.
The original plans came to fruition pretty par for the course, straying only slightly. Here’s the breakdown of how it all came together!
Artwork
I knew I wanted some type of animal portrait if you remember back to the lion picture in my inspo post. I was lucky enough to find an adorable panda portrait on sale at Home Goods one day when browsing. I snatched it up and found more of the artist’s work online. We picked out two more Simon Te Tai portraits to add to our registry for the shower. Tom’s choice was the wolf and my choice was the koala. They are SO cute and add a ridiculous amount of personality to the room without even trying!
Dresser Turned Changing Table and Shiplap Wall
Remember the little mid-century modern lady I found on Cragislist? We paid $60 for the piece, put another $20 into it, and are in awe of how it all turned out. Securing the legs, giving it a good sand, a new paint job with my wagner paint sprayer, and adding new knobs from Buffalo Restore- now she’s a sight for sore eyes. We have received a ton of compliments on the color already and I’ll let you in on the color fun: Valspar “Canadian Fur.”
The wall featured behind the dresser-turned-changing-table adds the right amount of texture needed to spice up the look of the plain wall!
Rocking Chair and Crib
We reallyyyyyy went for it and splurged with the rocking chair. After searching high and low, we purchased the “Modern Wingback Recliner” from Pottery Barn Kids! We snatched up a floor model sale in Washed Linen Cotton fabric in French Gray. Comfortable and stylish, we’re set with making those long sleepless nights a little more comfortable after all.
For the crib we wanted an affordable option that would mesh with the rest of the room, that gave off a similar mid-century modern vibe that the changing table does, and boy did we find that at Wayfair.com.
