Wondering how haus2home came to be? Here is the story according to Jackie Hausler!
We moved into our very first home in July of 2011. Thankfully, the year leading up to moving in, I worked at Pier One Imports and created a “hope chest.” It was actually more like a “hope mountain” as my parents liked to call it because it took up almost an entire room in their house…whoops! I was sure the furnishings would fill the new home, but boy was I wrong. Once the moving in process was done, it only took a second to realized the rooms looked quite lonely. As many young homeowners can relate to, both a limited budget and a lot of empty space to fill was a problem. It seemed furniture stores were out of the budget or the price was right but it was poorly made. That was when there was a realization getting creative was a necessity.
I started by re-finishing some dressers I had from my old bedroom to give them a new life so they didn’t look so sad anymore. It was a good test run since they weren’t the best quality dressers but they turned out so great! Over that year giving new lives to many great items was so gratifying and helped make the haus a home.
So why haus2home? The goal of haus2home is to reinvent and re-purpose furniture and accessories to inspire people to do the same. Along with that, I also seek to teach and inspire others to get creative with diy projects and old items to give them a new a new chance at life; avoiding the dumpster blues like the plague.
I truly believe in my heart of hearts that if everyone pitched in, we could really save this earth from being destructed by the human race. I hope that haus2home can convince you its worth the effort to re-use, re-invent and up-cycle, hopefully saving the planet one DIY project at a time!
reclaim. reuse. upcycle.
