Reclaiming, reusing and upcycling is what we’re all about here at haus2home and one of our favorite materials to use is pallet wood! The wood that comes from the pallets is always a mixture of colors and textures, making for unique and rustic pieces.
Today, I’m bringing you a little lesson on disassembling these pallets. I found this method to be the fastest way to take them apart while salvaging the maximum amount of wood without losing your mind in the process!
What you will need for this project:
- Pallets
- Saw
- Hammer
Start by using your saw to cut along the edge of the pallet planks. You will want to get as close as possible to the edge to maximize how much wood you can save.
Once both edges are cut, use your hammer to wedge the center out from the pallet base. Then, use your hammer to remove all the nails/staples from the wood. A good final step is to give them a good sand to prep them for future use and you’re all set! Yes, its that easy.
Questions or comments? Leave them below! And remember, to reclaim, reuse and upcycle!
