What do Genevieve Gorder, LifeStorage, TV commercials, and dog houses have in common? They were all a part of my 2016! Oh yes, its true. Let me break it down for you.  Right here. Right now.

2016 was quite the year! I had some  unforgettable opportunities, experiences and incredible learning moments. It was also a year of growing and further developing my craft as a DIYer and blogger! Now that 2017 is in full swing, I figured it would be a good time to do a recap of my favorite parts of 2016 and talk about some of my plans for the year to come. Here we go!

2016 kicked off with the release of Valu Home Centers “My Adventure, My Valu” video featuring our haus2home story.  The video was received really well on social media and it was a ton of fun sharing with our followers!  Valu is now using excerpts of the video for their TV commercials.  How fun is that? A huge shout out to my friends at Valu Home Centers for making such an awesome video!

In March I began blogging for Uncle Bob’s Self Storage! My very first post was a tutorial on a end table completely made from pallets. (Side note: still in love with that table!) Since then, the Uncle Bob’s Self Storage business has substantially grown all over the nation with the acquisition of LifeStorage! I now blog for LifeStorage monthly and have such a blast with the posts! Its such a great platform with a ton of great articles from bloggers from all across the nation. Take a look at the LifeStorage blog for more examples of my posts – you will find everything from DIY frames, tables kitchen cupboard organization, desks, hostess gifts and more!

The summer brought my favorite haus2home experience of 2016! I was invited by HGTV Magazine to be an influencer for the Blogger Block Party.  I went to New York City and was able to meet some awesome HGTV personalities like the lovely and talented Genevive Gorder and Emily Henderson, HGTV Magazine editor Sara Peterson, Emily Bidwell of Etsy,  fellow bloggers business owners and so many more awesome people! For the full rundown, take a peek at my recap post. Not going to lie, it took a while to come back to reality after that experience! 🙂

The highlight of my fall was definitely the Buffalo ReStore Habitat for Humanity DIY Contest and Artfest. 350 people attended and raised more than $15,000 for the Habitat for Humanity of Buffalo! We were completely blown away by the participation and generosity. I won 1st place in the contest with my Dog Pallet Palace donation.  It was made of free pallets and sold for $150 to a happy customer for a very lucky pooch!

As the year came to a close and I reflected on how much as 2016 was a blast, I’m looking forward to what 2017 brings!

One thing is for sure about 2017, I’m looking forward to sharing a lot more blog posts with you all! Stay tuned for upcoming topics like making furniture and accessories, heatgun tools and technology, adopting the Konmari method in my home, homemade self-care and cleaning products, living and carrying out more aspects of minimalism, DIY projects, sustainable and Eco-friendly tricks and tips, and much more! Do you have a request on something you’d like to see on the blog? Let me know!
